Think about this…there are three images that I see when I look in a Mirror:
1. I see myself, however, the image is reversed horizontally – whilst I am left handed my reflected self is right handed. Try this, and you will see that the person facing you is actually not you at all but your opposite. Try to shake hands with your reflection – can’t be done…
2. I see myself, and the vertical image is a true representation – my head is at the top and my feet remain on the floor. (My comfort zone)
3. I see my environment – the situation in which I place myself, the background that helps define how my image will be perceived.
So the image we see includes both our opposite, and our true self.
So how does this concept manifest itself in our lives and in our business….?
In life, business and relationships, we should therefore expect to see all images represented in equal measure. We attract both the image that is congruent with our self image, and also the image that is manifested by our opposed image, and our image will always be translated in the context of the environment in which we choose to place ourselves.
What this means is that we should expect to have opposites represented in our lives as well as our perceived true representation. While we attract like-minded people to us we will probably also be attracted to those in a group who are diametrically opposite to us. How many times have you found that you have a common bond with those within your same profession, and you also find that you are attracted to other business owners with different or opposing views…?
Like does not attract like – magnets only attract other magnets, however, it is the POSITIVE that is drawn to the NEGATIVE.
So it is the same with people – we are all attracted to people; however we are likely to be attracted most to those that are our “opposites” – Male / Female, Extrovert / Introvert, etc…
What does this mean – is it possible that we can adapt our “image” such that we begin to attract different things to us…?
Absolutely - You can control your environment, and that will change how you feel about yourself and how you are perceived. What is your “environment”? It includes for example, the people you surround yourself with, the street and house where you live, your workplace, the vehicle you drive. The greatest learning may be the realization that whilst we attract to ourselves that which is consistent with our self image, we should also expect to attract that which is the opposite – and it is from here that we will likely get our greatest lessons, perhaps of all the lessons we learn it is that variety is indeed the spice of life…
So here’s the challenge… What are you going to do about your environment to improve how you feel about yourself, or to attract what you are really looking to achieve? It might be big, it might be small, then follow the system and take one small step towards attracting better outcomes…
